JOIN THE SWARM !

It would be an understatement to claim that PRAY FOR LOCUST has been thundering through the metal landscape since their formation in 2009. In reality, the band has done much more than that. Between their relentless live show, which has captured audiences at venues such as Getaway Rock Festival, and the decidedly positive reactions to 2010's debut album SWARM, it is clear that PRAY FOR LOCUST is one step above the overall metalcore mold.

With influences from a wide array of genres and bands - RAISED FIST, MACHINE HEAD, PARKWAY DRIVE and THE HAUNTED to name a few - the band presents their own take on what heavy music should be like. And the people seem to be ready for it: The community of WeRock.se named SWARM “Best Debut Album of 2010”. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to praise from the media, however. Several of Sweden’s premiere outlets for heavy music such as RockNytt (10/10), Sweden Rock Magazine (7/10) and JoyZine (named SWARM on their Top 5 Best Albums of the Year list) all agree that PRAY FOR LOCUST is a band that is more than worth keeping an eye on.

Through a combination of proficient songwriting, a live show that makes your heart skip a beat, and an overall presentation which refuses to compromise; PRAY FOR LOCUST delivers the real goods. And they will be around to continue doing that for a long time.

"The album (Swarm) can only be summerized as a complete masterpiece and I´m looking forward to hearing more from this band !"
-Jonathan Rydén, rocknytt.se

"This year's hottest debut album? It may well be so. "Swarm" is a melting pot of everything that is good with metal. Uncompromising, kick ass and so the bone rock hard at the same time. it floors me every time"
- Michael Berg Mjörn, joyzine.se

"SWARM is the Stockholm-based quintet Pray for Locust's first full length album. It offers the mighty metalcore. Its all tones breathe commanding presence, energy and conviction. "
-John Jacobson, Close Up Magazine.

"Pray for locust grind down the American aggression with British melodies to an attractive symbiosis of the new explosive gunget and tried and true soon. "
- Jonathan Strandlund, nwt.se

BIOGRAPHY

The members of Pray For Locust all come from different walks of life. They originally brought a wide variety of preferences to the band. Now, in a band with only one big ego this would probably not be a problem. In PFL on the other hand, well, there's plenty of strong minds that wont bend for nothing. Fortunately only good things have come out of that. They had all been influenced early on by metal acts like Slayer, The Haunted, Lamb Of God and Pantera and that became the (solid) common ground, you so desperatly need when five strong headed souls are trying to morph themselves into one unique band.

So when the band was formed in the spring of 2009, they decided to start fresh with a clean slate, not only did they have a solid platform from where they could grow, they also had plenty of influences to throw in the mix. And by picking up vibes from bands like Raised Fist, Machine Head and Parkway Drive, their music soon took a turn for the heavier and faster. And the band drifted towards more brutal Hardcore Metal.

As soon as they had material enough they hit the local clubs and with an explosive live act the word soon got around. "You guys sound like as if Slayer and Lamb Of God were making babies in a meat grinder"

And from that on, the fan base grew bigger for every gig and other bands soon found out Pray For Locust were a hard act to follow because of their very intense liveshow. "We gotta make it interesting for people to watch us play, cause that's what we'd like to see when we watch other bands on stage" says Tintin Andersen, lead vocalist of PFL.

With the buzz growing things spiraled away. They got to open for high impact bands and early 2010 they recorded their debut album "SWARM" (Supernova Records/Bonnier-Amigo).

But these dudes refuse to sit on their hands. As soon as they were done recording they didn't just wait for the album to be released. Pray For Locust went out on the road again, doing what they do best. Delivering brutal Hardcore Metal at neck breaking speed.
